AWS Ambassadors Do Hard Things
On a recent trip to AWS HQ in Seattle, I had the opportunity to meet with 7 AWS Ambassadors and got the chance to sit with them to learn a little about their motivations, experience, and leadership style as they fulfilled the requirements to be an AWS Ambassador. More importantly, I got a pretty good understanding of just what an AWS Ambassador really is. You can view the episode here.
I learned that there are AWS Ambassadors worldwide and that it is also pretty hard to define a typical AWS Ambassador. What I found is that AWS Ambassadors are very active. You can find them on social media channels like Twitter, LinkedIn, and Youtube, organizing and hosting user group meetups, presenting at community, industry, or vendor events, and publishing content in the form of blog posts, whitepapers, magazine articles, and even books. They are technical experts in one or more areas and are well-known for their expertise by AWS Solutions Architects. Although they are required to hold two technical certifications, many possess all certifications. Ultimately…AWS Ambassadors have deep expertise on the AWS platform and collaborate with AWS Solutions Architects to support customers leveraging the AWS platform.
I think it is fair to say that the 7 people I spoke with have different motivations behind being an Ambassador, just as they have different motivations behind being a leader. I created a compilation episode from the many conversations I had to give you a little bit of flavor from each one, and I really appreciated just how different each of them approached their journey with AWS, and for sharing their views on leadership.
In this episode, I'll be speaking with the following Ambassadors:

So, if you are curious about what it takes to be an AWS Ambassador, please watch this episode. I really enjoyed the opportunity to speak with each of them, and I think you'll enjoy getting a peek behind the curtain of these leaders of the AWS Partner Community.
Thank you to Denis Astahov ( OpsGuru ), Jorge Rodriguez ( CloudHesive ), Bal Heroor ( Mactores ), Justin Guse & Scott Weber ( 普华永道 ), Fumiaki Ueno (NRI Netcom), and Gerardo Arroyo (Flecha Roja).
