3 年hi good luck. ?f the meetings are so crowded tightly whit agendas and there is no time for somebody to bring things up ; then again when somebody awkward does that ; that is really means, he throws things off the agenda. thanks.

3 年Interesting point and thanks Jim for bringing it up. I agree and we can use it as a quick tool to get audience attention back.
I have attended a training where the instructor taught us about power of silence as one of a sales tactic. the origin supposed to be in ancient times where people lived in woods and when there was a danger the whole environment in nature suddenly become wery quiet. that was a sign one had to do something hence this awkward feeling which people can not stand and are forced to react.

3 年Silence is a great way to grab attention. When the silence is too long it invites confusion, its important not to waste the momentum created by a moment of silence.

3 年Thank you, it reminds me my university and institute colleagues. This silence is intellectual, when we discuss a problem in physics or whatever. You feel the atmosphere of thinking. It is important and fruitful part of conversation, especially for open- and like-minded people, I think.
