Away from darkness
Behind this smile
Hides a mountain of pain
Depression challenging my mind again
Please don’t judge as I walk through the blues
You have no idea what it’s like in my shoes
The many daily battles I face
Just to make it through the day
There is no plaster to visibly see
The hurt inside that’s consuming me
All I need is friends to listen and care
To know when I need them they are there
Times a great healer and so is rest
A change of scenery can help at best
Away from the darkness
The stark voices in my head
Mental health is alive not dead
Aiming towards hope and light instead
To be the person I was born to be
Courageous, happy and in liberty
Not drowning in misery with chains anchoring me down
Instead being a beacon for others to find their way
And to know there is hope when I pray
Away from the nightmares the sorrow and pain
Back towards love and gratitude again
Please have patience and please be kind
Like a wound up coil these things take time to unwind
A journey of small steps to reach the end goal
Where I can be me again and feel whole
Grateful for the help and support along the way
From various earth Angels that heard my silent plea - not fooled by my smile or hidden misery x
