Awards Season for IT, Zoho's Long Game, Cisco's Mixed Week
With Oscars a month away and other awards shows behind us, IT takes its own prizes seriously with G2's listing of the top software products in the world.
The top five according to G2 (check methodology here ) are below:
Beyond G2's listing is Constellation Research's Shortlists profiles being announced, the research firm's annual picks of the top 126 solutions chosen "through a research process that includes client inquiries, partner conversations, customer references, vendor selection projects, market share and internal research."
This week's announced areas included AI-Powered Developer Platforms , Conversational AI , Innovation Services and Engineering , MLOps , and Social Engagement Platforms .
Visualization of the Week: Zoho's App & Product Breakdown
Zoho is betting on low code development from those beyond software programming providing several customer panels from their annual analyst day, representing multiple industry vertical s such as finance, consumer goods, utilities and professional services about how they generated return in investment on their inexpensively adopted automation investments in the Zoho One suite.
In an era where short-term gains often overshadow long-term visions, Sridhar Vembu, CEO and cofounder of Zoho Corporation, stands out as a beacon of strategic patience and foresight .
Zoho is taking a deliberate approach to selling into enterprises , acknowledging that most large enterprises will not respond to a suite-based marketing message around Zoho One , and instead will select an app or apps (such as Zoho CRM or Zoho Desk) that are resonating with enterprise buyers, and go to market focused on these applications.
Several customers specifically mentioned that it was Zoho’s willingness to be a solid and fair partner , that drove them to select Zoho over other vendors. Deliberate business planning, social responsibility, and in-house app innovation are a part of Zoho's future. I'm watching for sure.
Cisco Key Announcements Amid Layoffs
Cisco reported $12.8 billion in revenue , down 6% year-over-year (YoY), GAAP earnings per share (EPS) of $0.65, and non-GAAP EPS of $0.87, with revenue growth in security, collaboration, and observability providing silver lining contrast. The company's results reflect solid operational execution with strong margins and operating leverage despite a drop in total revenue. Cisco sees two uses of AI in its future, both for itself and for its customers to produce their own AI networks with AI driving the contact center of the future.
Cisco also said it will cut 5% of its global workforce in a bid to "realign the organization and enable further investment in key priority areas", planning a restructuring that will involve layoffs affecting “thousands” of employees .
Networking revenues, a key business arm for Cisco, had declined 12 percent, contributing to a decline in total revenues (six percent) to $12.8 billion, as did “flat” software sales remaining at $4.2 billion.
