Award-Winning Author Becomes a Scottish Lord!

Deen Ferrell, award-winning author of “Cryptic Spaces” and other innovative new projects (such as “Don’t Look Under the Stairs!” with Disney animator Thomas Leavitt) was awarded a plot of Scottish land over the weekend, allowing him, by rights, to adopt the title of Scottish Laird (Lord).

It was a tense and emotional ceremony at the Ferrell breakfast table where Deen accepted his deed of title. He described the transfer of property as both a “responsibility and a privilege.” Ferrell reiterated his commitment to “upholding the long tradition of Scottish Lairds.” Speaking solemnly, he added; “It is an honor to accept this new rank, and I hope to make that great country of Scotland proud!”

Onlookers reacted with cautious awe as Ferrell has stepped into his new role. “I’m impressed,” states Sharon McKenzie, newly hired Gaelic coach. “I mean imagine—one day, you’re just an ordinary author and respected businessman, and the next, you’re a Scottish Laird! Aye, it’d be a difficult transition for anyone, yet, there he is, goin’ about it so humble like, as if nothing has even happened!”

The plot, located near Scotland’s Dunans Castle, is currently vacant, but Ferrell has already formed a task-force to assess the one-foot by one-foot site’s suitability for development. Asked to elaborate, he revealed that one of Hollywood’s top movie model builders, Rob Johnson, has been invited to work with his development team.  “I’ve asked him to provide us a conceptual, 3-D models based on Scotland’s rich traditions,” he states. “An early concern, of course, is foot traffic—how to create a structure that is both historic, as well as visible so that tourists and fishermen alike don’t overlook its one-foot square format and accidentally trample the structures there.”

Preparations are already underway for a fact-finding trip to Scotland. Ferrell may well be greeted on arrival by a local pipe and drum band in full Scottish regalia (it could happen!) He will subsequently host a reception at the property where dignitaries will be invited to kneel and “put a finger on the pulse” of Scottish tradition (as a finger is probably all that will fit).
