Adventurer and multi award-winning travel writer Phoebe Smith will be visiting Haworth’s Independent Bookshop Wave of Nostalgia to launch her latest book Wayfarer: Love, Loss and Life on Britain’s Ancient Paths
At 7PM on Thursday 2nd May she will be signing books, discussing and reading from her inspiring memoir.
In her search for answers Phoebe found herself – quite by accident – walking some of Britain’s oldest pilgrim paths. And by following these old ways, she ended up confronting past traumas that she thought she had laid to rest. From losing her mother as a teenager to surviving toxic relationships, Phoebe offers an unflinchingly honest look at her battle with an eating disorder, depression, and the pitfalls of newfound singledom. Skillfully weaving together Phoebe’s own story with those of countless travellers past and present, Wayfarer reveals how nature and place can heal past wounds, offering a pathway to hope she’d never thought existed.
Wave of Nostalgia, Winner of the Northern Region Independent Bookshop of the Year, loves to champion strong women. Owner Diane Park is really looking forward to welcoming Phoebe to Haworth. She says “I’ve loved watching Phoebe on TV including BBC Countryfile, BBC Breakfast, Saturday Live and Britain’s Best Walks where her enthusiasm for nature and the outdoors is really inspiring. It’s going to be really special finding out how even someone like Phoebe can have their demons and then find a fantastic way through our beautiful countryside to beat them.”. She adds “For anyone who can’t make it to Haworth for the event, we will also be sharing the event on Zoom”
The event is at 7PM on Wednesday Thursday 2nd May at Wave of Nostalgia, 74 Main Street, Haworth BD22 8DP and on Zoom
Tickets to attend the event in person or via Zoom are £5 and are available from Wave of Nostalgia, 74 Main Street Haworth BD22 8DP or online here: https://www.waveofnostalgia.co.uk/event-tickets There will be 10% off all books in Wave of Nostalgia at the event.
