Award presentation for the Designed for the City category at the Latvian EV of the Year 2024/25 competition

? Time flies – three weeks have already passed since the conclusion of the Latvian EV of the Year 2024/25 competition and the announcement of the jury’s results! ??

As a representative of one of the event’s sponsors, Kempower , I had the honor of being on stage to reveal the winner of the "Designed for the City" category – it felt like being at the Oscars! ?? And guess what? The winner was my personal favorite in this category – 沃尔沃汽车 EX30! ????

What’s more, in 6 out of 8 categories, my top vote aligned perfectly with the jury’s final decision! ?? Here are the competition results:

?? EV of the Year (over 50k EUR): 宝马 i5 M60 xDrive (matched my vote)

Now, I have to admit – as a daily Tesla driver, I’ve become quite the Tesla addict ???, so when evaluating these EVs from "traditional OEMs," I can’t help but compare them to Tesla. If I had to choose a new EV for everyday use, the Volvo EX30 would be closest to my taste (although I’d prefer a bigger trunk), or the 日产 Ariya, which feels very close to the Tesla Model Y. But if budget wasn’t a concern, the BMW i5 (even without the M-packs) would definitely catch my eye! ??

That being said, I’m still thrilled with my Tesla for daily use and have no plans to switch anytime soon! ???

One remark though – no Tesla models participated in the competition, as the lack of a Tesla representation in Latvia was a contest entry requirement.

Funny fact: despite that, from the 8,650 registered EVs in Latvia, about 1,400 of them are Teslas. That means every 6th EV on Latvian roads is a Tesla! ???
