Award Nomination for TPKevents Venue 48 Below

PRESS RELEASE FROM TPKEVENTS - Monday 29th February 2016

TPKevents Edinburgh comedy venue, 48 Below, has been nominated in the Best Club Under 100 category of the Scottish Comedy Awards.

Last week, the Scottish Comedy Awards nominations committee 2016 met and whittled down the peer nominated long list into the shortlist from which those working within the Scottish comedy may vote.

TPKevents have have been instrumental in establishing 48 Below as one of the prominent comedy clubs in Edinburgh through The Line Up: Below and The Line Up: First Offence.

Thomas Kelly, founder of TPKevents who manages comedy at the venue, said:

“As the sole comedy promoter at the venue, we are delighted. The TPKevents story started back in 2014 and we have come a long way. With our regular new material night at 48 Below, The Line Up: First Offence, continuing to attract some of the best Scottish talent, we are delighted to be recognised by others working within the Scottish comedy circuit.”

“We began our relationship with 48 Below back in 2014 after viewing the venue and thinking ‘we have to do comedy here’. 48 is not your typical comedy venue, with a chaise long and impressive drinks selection, there is a real touch of class about the place. We love it there and after this nomination it is safe to say that others within the comedy world do too.”

“Our ethos is to provide the best possible platform for comedians in Scotland to make audiences laugh. We see comedians from all different stages of their career come through our doors, from those just starting out to household names. 48 Below has become a hub for comedy and we want to continue showcasing how strong Scottish comedy is.”

Voting will open on Monday (29th February). Only those actively working within Scottish Comedy either as performers, producers, writers, promoters, venue staff, or within TV and Radio broadcasting will be eligible to vote.

The Awards ceremony will take place on Monday 25th April at Glasgow’s Blythswood Hotel.

Notes to editor:

The Line Up: First Offence runs every Wednesday at 48 Below, 48 Broughton Street, Edinburgh.
