The development of an ego was a necessary stage in the awakening of consciousness.??But over many millennia the connectedness with life has been lost as we began to identify more and more with our thoughts.?

When we allow our ego based fears to control us we become less conscious, less awakened. The ego, in its attempt to strengthen itself, is creating the suffering that eventually bring about its own destruction.
