Do you ever feel like there's abundant untapped potential inside you? Or that you still have a lot in you to do, to prove, and just to experience, which you haven’t done till now? You’re either confused about which direction to channelise it or are waiting for the right time.
Truth is…you’re not alone. Ironically, this feeling is more common than you think.
The idea that ‘greatness lies dormant within us’ is made famous by John C. Maxwell. And to most who haven’t yet experienced their full potential cannot realise this idea by simply reading this, as it all seems just words to them. I hear you, I’ve been there. So, believe me when I tell you that I know exactly what that feels like.
Let’s dive into it little by little.?
Knowing this concept of untapped potential is one thing, but the real question is - how do we awaken this giant? And also - what do we do with it & will happen if we do?
These are arguably relevant questions and concerns and I hope this e-resource will help you sort it out to some substantial degree.?
Let's first understand & acknowledge that the idea of a giant is abstract and not real. There’s no actual giant inside of us.
Now let’s break down the main word here - potential, and more so, the untapped version!
What exactly is potential?
I like the physics definition of it, because a lot of life is quite akin to the laws of physics. Simply put, “Potential generally refers to a currently unrealized ability. It could mean that objects that have the ability to release energy or people who have the ability to realise their inner abilities.”?

Now if the potential is untapped in a person, it means it has never been released yet. Therefore, it is unknown to the person and therefore the release is going to behold a brand new experience. This is the most logical way to make you understand that whatever untapped potential you hope to unleash/ awaken, it will be new and it will feel weird. It could make you feel scared or exhilarated or just out of your element.
Now you could try to awaken this giant through many holistic practices and none of them are wrong! Believe me - finding a deep connection with oneself is highly recommended, especially in this fast paced internet-driven world. And again, when it comes to business and work, deep connections only get us that far and we require a different set of skills.?
The answer in tapping one’s potential lies in setting purpose-driven goals.
Goals are the lighthouses that guide us through the fog of uncertainty. They provide direction, focus, and a powerful reason to push forward. However, ordinary goals often lack the spark to ignite the giant within. This is where purpose enters the equation. You don’t want to do goal setting which makes you appear successful. You want your goals to have some meaning and purpose, otherwise they won’t inspire you on days when you feel lazy and beat. And yes, those days are real! So make sure they really come from the deepest corners of your heart and gut. Add a little emotion and you’re good to go! ??
Purpose is the fuel that propels us towards extraordinary outcomes. Imagine your goals as a rocket – well-defined and meticulously planned. But without the powerful thrust of purpose as the fuel, your rocket will never leave the launchpad. The intensity of your emotion is your fuel. The more emotion packed your goals are, the more fuel your rocket ship has, the further it can go.?
Purpose-driven goals are deeply connected to your core values and aspirations. They are not just about achieving something, but about becoming someone. They answer the question: "Why does this goal matter? How will achieving it contribute to a greater good?" If you are new to goal setting, be realistic. If you are experienced, be more realistic than the newcomer. Strange advice?! Maybe, but it's true. Your business is not an extension of what you do, it's an extension of who you are. Goals then, aren’t superficial targets, or more money in the bank, they speak about who you are, what you are and why you are. Put some thought into it.
Once you start setting goals fueled by purpose, you'll start to experience a multitude of benefits:
So, what's the first step??
