Avoiding premature evaluation, GDPR on LInkedin and more....

Thanks for subscribing to this Linkedin newsletter which contains most of my weekly email newsletter for accountants in practice.

I really appreciate all of your support and feedback. Please comment below with your favourite takeaway from this edition, and if you can, please share this to your newsfeed (link at the end) or share it with an accountant who would value its contents.

3 practical tips shared recently in 1-2-1 sessions

If any of these resonate, maybe now would be the time for us to have a conversation to see if I could help you too:

  1. Hindsight?- Many of the mistakes you have made may seem obvious with the benefit of hindsight. But don't beat yourself up when you see mistakes you have made in the rear view mirror. Let's focus on moving forwards.
  2. How's business??- Next time, think before you answer. Don't just say 'fine' - whether it's me asking or people you meet in a business context. Plan your reply along the lines of: “Better than I feared. I’m convinced its because we are working really hard to be accountants that clients are happy to recommend. It seems to be working as most of our new clients come from referrals.”
  3. Smile more?- A smile makes you more attractive and welcoming. A smile says: I like you, you make me happy. I am pleased to see you. Online on video and offline, face to face. Even behind a mask.

GDPR on Linkedin

In this context GDPR stands for 'Going Direct Produces Results'. Once you are connected with someone, or even once you have identified a prospect on Linkedin consider approaching them just as you would if you had simply said hello at a networking event or business conference.

Don't be pushy of course. No one likes that. But go direct - using direct messages on Linkedin, email or even picking up the phone. It's likely to be far more effective than simply posting loads of content and hoping that they will contact you.?[Note to self: I should do this more often myself!]

How to avoid premature evaluation and premature elaboration

This week's blog post addresses an all too common mistake that accountants make when talking with prospective clients. And sometimes even with clients too.

Let's have a conversation

Although I enjoy speaking at Accountex, as well as conferences and away-days for larger firms, I love supporting and encouraging experienced sole practitioner accountants.

Are you feeling frustrated, overwhelmed and lacking some of the confidence you used to have? Do you want to move your practice forwards, resolve practice or strategic marketing related challenges but without making big changes to how you operate?

Some refer to this as NED-style mentoring support.

Maybe now would be a good time for us to have a conversation (without any obligation).

You can take your chances and call me on 07769 692890 or you can pick a time that suits us both for a no-obligation conversation:?www.calendly.com/bookmarklee/phone

Regards

Mark?
