Dealing with People’s Emotions
Real estate is tough, no doubt about it. One of the biggest challenges is handling people’s emotions. Buying or selling a home is a highly emotional experience, and you’ll meet all kinds of people—some who will make you want to pull your hair out, and others who become lifelong friends. The key is learning how to manage these emotions effectively.
Leveraging Your Time
The first step is leveraging your time. Treat real estate like the business it is. In the beginning, you might feel like you have to do everything yourself, and that’s partly true. You need to discover where your strengths lie. Are you great at closing deals, or is your forte in finding new clients? Identify your priorities and focus on what brings the most value to your business.
Get on a Team
For new agents, my advice is to join a team. This gives you the camaraderie and support you need. Plus, working with a meta company instead of a franchise can offer more collaboration opportunities. It’s invaluable to have a support system when you’re starting out.
The Importance of Collaboration
Collaboration is crucial, whether you’re new or experienced. I once helped a 72-year-old agent who had forgotten how seasonal this business can be. Markets fluctuate, and you need to be prepared for tough times. Remember, plenty of people are still buying homes, even when interest rates are high. It's all about being in the right place at the right time.

Understanding the seasonal nature of real estate can save you a lot of stress. Markets will always have their ups and downs, and being prepared for these cycles is essential. Adaptability is your best friend.
Adapting to Market Conditions
Take, for example, the current market with higher interest rates. In Charlotte, where I live, the demand for homes remains strong. Sometimes, moving to a different city or focusing on a different niche can make all the difference. One agent I knew moved from Boston to La Jolla, California, to specialize in luxury properties. He found his niche and thrived.
Get Connected
Networking is another vital aspect. Find your target market and focus on them. Don’t be the agent who goes all over the place. Specialize in a niche. My niche was waterfront properties at a specific price point. I studied the market trends and adapted my strategy accordingly.

Leveraging Technology and VA's
To maximize your time, leverage technology and virtual assistants (VAs). I have VAs in the Philippines who handle my graphic design, video editing, website traffic, email follow-ups, and more. This allows me to focus on what I do best—networking and creating content.
Networking
Networking is a powerful tool. I’ve been a member of Business Network International (BNI) since 2008. If you can’t join a group, create your own. Networking groups are invaluable for referrals and business growth.
Creating Valuable Content
Utilize platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. YouTube, in particular, is evergreen—your videos stay relevant and accessible over time. Create content that provides value and showcases your expertise.
Leverage It Out
To avoid the hard grind, leverage your tasks. Collaboration with other agents and using tools like YouTube can significantly ease your workload. I’m with eXp Realty, which offers incredible collaboration opportunities through its meta platform. If you’re a hustler looking for a premium company, eXp might be the right fit for you.
The Power of Technology
Embrace technology. Tools like ChatGPT can revolutionize your business. For instance, I used it to figure out how to capture leads from my YouTube channel. You can also use tools like ManyChat to automate your social media interactions and build a powerful email list.
