Relational mediations are new to San Antonio. A perfect way to be prepared for mediation is a pre-mediation conference.

Pre-Mediation Conferences are great for parents for a few reasons: 1. parents understand that they get to choose the topics that they want to discuss at the next mediation, 2. parents can be given, upon request, resources to help educate them prior to the mediation session, 3. parents understand not to bring positions to the table when the mediation begins, 4. parents understand that the relational mediation is about sharing goals, interests and concerns in an attempt to problem solve their way through the issues in dispute.

Pre-Mediation Conferences are also great for attorneys for two main reasons: 1. education: what to expect at a relational mediation 2. set the table: what conversations are the lawyers comfortable with.

Parents should be able to talk to one another about co-parenting issues.
