AVOID NON GENUINE SPARES
More often than not,we encounter situations when the Purchase Manager opts to buy non genuine spares to keep costs low. This does give a monetary advantage to the Organization in the very short term.
Business Owners and Higher Management need to appreciate the long term benefits of using genuine spares and services and drill it down to their Purchase Department.
Customer buys a genuine OEM equipment with surety of optimum performance backed by the OEM assurance of after sales and service to run the equipment even after the warranty is over.
However, usage of spurious spares downgrades the quality and performance of the equipment immediately thereby reducing the value of the equipment itself!
Purchase Departments which practice L1 culture are in fact doing a dis-service to their respective Organizations by risking the safety of the personnel operating the equipment along with potential production losses and quality issues in the final products.
Purchasers should demand value added services like Health check of the equipment, free training sessions for their engineers from OEMs to ensure optimum usage of the procured OEM equipment.
ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND THE LIFECYCLE COST OF THE EQUIPMENT!
