Apparently, fake interviews are getting in the limelight nowadays.
I recently came across one. This is how it unfolded:
A friend (Candidate) of mine currently working as a Manager with a Bangalore-based Company got a call from a Consultant for a job in a top company. Consultant conducted the preliminary interview and shortlisted for a top company, Later, the Candidate received a call from another person from the same Consultancy and demanded Rs.6,000 as processing fees. As the Candidate was desperate for a job switch, he went ahead and paid Rs.6,000. The Consultant then arranged the next round of interview via Skype with ostensibly with the CHRO and GM HR of the joining company. The Candidate attended the Skype interview while the video on the Interviewer side was switch off. During the interview the Candidate was asked to pay Rs.24,000 towards profile verification charges as a mandatory process. Later, this Candidate (my Friend) called me to check if I knew this CHRO and narrated the story. I was shocked. I know the CHRO personally and I also know that he is very senior in stature and doesn’t take interviews of Junior level prospects. I found this to be highly suspicious, I immediately contacted the said CHRO and he was taken aback. He has no idea that some Consultants are misusing his name and fleecing genuine job seekers. I called back the candidate and reconfirmed to him that CHRO has no idea about what just happened.
Friends, I know this pandemic has created huge job losses. Many people have lost jobs, but be careful about these kind of fraudsters. They will take money unknowingly and they may hack your bank account as well in future. As it is you are in stress of a job and on top of it you do not want to lose money.
Things you should do when you get a call from any Consultant:
1.First speak to them and take all required details
2.Kindly ask him to send an email with Job Description and Job Code
3.Verify JD on the Company website
4.Verify their credentials (Glassdoor, LinkedIn Etc.)
5.Check consultant reviews on googe.com
6.If any Consultant demands money, take advice from your friends / mentors
7.Please note that no one will ask you money for recruitment
8.Kindly report the same to cyber cell in case of any fraud
9.Last but not the least, please write google reviews about them
10.Also, inform to your friends so that they will be alert
Please share if you have faced any similar situation and share this message to as many so that it will benefit others.
