Ever heard people say that your career is 'The Defining Decade' of your life? They weren't joking, trust me.
One day you’re a student, and the other day you’re an employee.
This transition makes us prone to commit inevitable mistakes we might have to carry throughout our lives.
Here are five prevalent mistakes that you MUST AVOID in your career, according to my own experience:
1. Imbalanced Career Life Outlook
You’ll find two types of young employees: ones who immerse themselves entirely so much into work that they burn themselves out and others who focus on celebrating landing the job and not on the growth ahead.
If you live your life with a well-balanced career life outlook,
You can accelerate your professional development by focusing on your career and life.
2. Missing Out On Opportunities
Many young employees consider landing a well-paying job their end goal and miss out on opportunities for growth because of this mindset.
Make sure to seize the learning opportunities around you, whether from within or outside your workplace.
Be willing to learn new tools and take on new responsibilities to grow your career.
3. Not Networking
LinkedIn is the best place for professional networking.
Use this networking site to connect with people within and outside your organization.
The worst mistake you can make is to confine yourself to only the people in your department or those in the same positions as you in other organizations.
You’ll learn a lot this way.

4. Seeking the Wrong Mentor
If you talk to people in senior positions, most will agree that their professional success was accelerated by a mentor who helped them immensely in their initial years at work.
If you don’t make a careful choice of your mentor, your professional growth is likely to suffer.
Choosing someone who’s experienced and practical with insights into your work and life is the right person to choose
5. Playing below your potential
One of the biggest reasons many professionals are stagnant and undervalued in their careers is that they don't play to their potential.
Not their fault, to be honest
Most of us have learnt that a career is an auto-pilot system; keep changing the seats and titles.
Unfortunately, when put on auto-pilot, a Career crashes or becomes stagnant.
That's what we need to change, especially in Mid-Level
