AVISTRA turns 1!

AVISTRA turns 1!

This week, we celebrate not only AVISTRA’s first birthday, but also, following a successful first year, the establishment of AVISTRA as a separate stand alone entity, and the launch of our own website and quarterly newsletter.

Go here to check it out: www.avistra.aero

Founded in the thick of COVID to provide support to airports struggling to adapt their operations and business plans, AVISTRA has worked consistently throughout the year, finding a strong relevance for our unique skill set in air cargo development and airport business and strategy planning.

AVISTRA is fast building a reputation for rigour, customer service and actionable, pragmatic advice. If you need to understand complex aviation markets, develop competitive strategies or generate improved financial performance at your airport, get in touch with us today.

Here are some of the highlights from our first year in operation:

1) Our first client was Bundaberg Regional Council which chose AVISTRA to provide an air freight pre-feasibility study for its region. At AVISTRA we understand the air freight sector, so were able to provide real outcomes and practical advice without a heavy investment being required. We sincerely appreciate Bundaberg Regional Council’s leadership, support and belief in our ability as a new business.

2) Tamworth Regional Council engaged AVISTRA to consider opportunities around air freight, and, more broadly for the airport. We considered how the strengths of the local economy, broader macro-economic and industry specific trends, and the capabilities of the local infrastructure and aviation community intersect to create unique opportunities for the airport and community. Thanks Tamworth, we really enjoyed getting to know your town.

3) Northern Territory Airports engaged AVISTRA to complete an air freight strategy for Darwin International Airport. We analysed various data sets to explore NT originating export and import air cargoes, engaged with various stakeholders and put together a strategy designed to support the airport’s aviation development, property and operational planning. We loved working with Darwin, especially in the winter – as Sara is based in Toowoomba, where it is a bit chilly!

4) We worked with AEC to provide an air freight operations and other business opportunities analysis for Gladstone Airport. We considered the intersection of regional production, emerging infrastructure investments and the opportunities to leverage Gladstone’s unique location in terms of inbound international freight. We also explored additional options for both aeronautical and non aeronautical business diversification and how they fit with emerging global and local economic and industry trends.

5) AVISTRA’s team also worked to support some Aviation Projects clients on several interesting issues. We provided commercial rigour around decisions to invest in additional business capabilities, supported airports with airline negotiations, assisted in identifying opportunities for the diversification of airport land holdings, and considered how to best leverage airport land and infrastructure to provide economic growth for the community.

We look forward to serving the aviation industry for many years to come and are proud to offer rigorous, pragmatic and independent advice grounded in deep domain expertise and a true passion for everything aviation stands for.

AVISTRA provides strategy and commercial advice for airports and government. Whether you need to understand specialised aviation markets, develop competitive strategies, generate improved financial performance or improve your cost competitiveness, we have the expertise.
