Avify: Building a digital product in the midst of a pandemic

A great example of this is Avify: an online platform that allows people in the audiovisual sector (for now, in Spain) to find work and easily manage their projects.

How to deal with a project launch in uncertain circumstances

Although the state of alert would have many consequences, Avify decided to launch the platform after all. Mainly because they expected the audiovisual sector to reach a peak in these times.

At the same time, Avify is taking the opportunity to learn from its users. Through (almost daily) video calls, they listen to their feedback and try to understand what can be improved about the product. They even started a public Q&A area to solve doubts about the platform.

The initial response from the audiovisual sector has been good. After only one month, Avify has hundreds of registered users—a figure that continues to grow every day.

The development process behind a project like Avify

Avify reached out to Yeeply with a clear concept. They were familiar with the sector, identified an opportunity in it and started looking for a development team to transform this idea into a product.

Yeeply came to the rescue and assigned them 3 different teams, each specialised in one area—product design, development and marketing. Together they managed to build the platform within three months, in the following stages:

  1. Economic scope. They first negotiated with the development team, whose work is often the most expensive. It was important to estimate the budget and prevent any last-minute surprises.
  2. Product definition and design. The product team worked on the definition of the idea and the design of an MPV (minimum viable product). Meanwhile, the marketing team invested its efforts in keyword research to complement the design and work on Avify's online visibility before its launch.
  3. Development of the MVP. The development team received the platform's design that combines two technologies, one for the front-end and one for the back-end. 
  4. Continuous improvement. After launching the MPV, the cycle starts again with a flexible T&M model. The product team continues to suggest platform improvements which are delegated to the development team for implementation.
