Aluminum alloy profiles consist a significant product category within our AVIATIONEU NEW ERA offered portfolio of metal products.
Sourced from quality producers these profiles are offered in different shape options: round, rectangular, hexagonal, square bars/rods and angles in both inch and Metric systems.
Aluminum profiles are widely used in many aviation and industrial applications, round bars/rods in aviation constructions and automotive industry, rectangular rods for aviation components, transport equipment, equipment components and other structural applications, hexagonal rods in vehicle body building, aerospace as well as general constructions and frame building or angles in applications to contain, protect, reinforce and support various surfaces.
Depending on the selected profile, key features of our AVIATIONEU NEW ERA aluminum alloy profiles include:
Different aluminum alloys and tempers to meet specific application requirements each time.
Aluminum alloys come in different series (2xxx, 6xxx etc.) with differentiations in their major alloying elements and resulting properties.
For example,
the 2024 Aluminum Alloy (AL2024), also known as aircraft aluminum, with copper as the primary alloying element, is used in applications requiring high strength to weight ratio, as well as good fatigue resistance, weldability and average machinability. The high percentage of copper in 2024 aluminum greatly reduces its resistance to corrosion and therefore it is more prone to corrosion than most other aluminum alloys.?
the 6061 Aluminum Alloy (AL6061), with magnesium and silicon as major alloying elements, is heat-treatable and features a light weight, high tensile strength, good corrosion resistance, weldability, and machinability. However, the 2024 aluminum’s yield strength surpasses that of AL6061 and it is generally selected if strength is a priority. Furthermore, AL2024 has a higher modulus of elasticity that 6061 aluminum bearing more stress without permanently changing shape and therefore a better choice for forming applications. The AL6061 is heat-treatable and presents an excellent machinability, being one of the most popular machining alloys and therefore often? preferred if machining procedures are necessary for a project.?
The AVIATIONEU NEW ERA profiles come in different aluminum alloy options including: 2011,2014,2017,2024,5052,5083,5086,5454,5754,6061,6063,6082,7003,7022,7050,7055,7075.
In terms of tempers, the profiles are are offered as annealed (O Temper) or in different tempered grades such as T3/T351, T4/T451, T5, T6/T651 etc.
Wide Range of Dimensions
Due to our co-operations with multiple producers worldwide, AVIATIONEU NEW ERA aluminum alloy profiles are offered in different dimensions in inches or millimeters and cut to order lengths in feet or meters. Even orders for custom dimensions can be served with an additional mold charge.
Standards/Specifications
The profiles comply with international standards such as those of AMS, ASTM or equivalents. In addition, Manufacturer Test Reports (MTRs) can be supplied at additional charge.
AMS stands for Aerospace Material Specifications established by the SAE International (formerly, the Society of Automotive Engineers or SAE). AMS specifications are compiled in a comprehensive database of individual directives that standardize procedures,?equipment and processes related to aerospace material processing. These are continuously updated and revised to stay up-to-date with advances in material science and processes technologies.
ASTM International is a standards organization developing and publishing “voluntary consensus technical standards for a wide range of materials, products, systems, and services”. ASTM’s aerospace material standards are?instrumental in evaluating materials, components, and devices primarily used in aerospace and aircraft industries.
Although profiles produced per AMS specifications (unfortunately at a higher cost) are generally selected for aerospace applications, those made per ASTM standards can work equally well in certain cases and can be considered as possible alternatives.
