Avianca Brasil Launches Its First U.S. Passenger Route in Miami

The Brazilian carrier offers direct, daily services between S?o Paulo and Miami

“At Avianca Brasil, we are experiencing an exciting transition into a stronger, more mature and more competitive carrier,” said Frederico Pedreira, Avianca Brasil president. “We decided to launch long-haul operations because we understand there are good business opportunities and a chance to provide high quality services to international travelers.”
Avianca Brasil, one of Brazil’s fastest-growing airlines, now offers daily nonstop passenger flights between S?o Paulo and Miami. Flights are serviced by Airbus A330-200 aircraft, which seats 238 passengers.

Business class customers receive an enhanced experience including premium menus and amenity kits. The 1-2-1 seating arrangement ensures greater privacy and comfort. At their disposal, premium travelers enjoy an on-demand entertainment system, with movies, TV series and games, viewable on 15-inch touchscreens.
Economy, which is configured in a 2-4-2 arrangement, features individual entertainment systems, remote controls, power outlets, USB ports, adjustable head and foot rests. New jets include the latest LED ambient lighting technology.
This summer, Avianca Brasil also will launch a S?o Paulo – Santiago route.

Arquimedes Trujillo: Mr. Pedreira, welcome to Miami. Your airline, Avianca Brasil is now an important part to link Miami and S?o Paulo, especially now that Brazil is once again a force in Real Estate acquisitions. How many flights do you have in this international expansion?
Federico Pedreira: We offer direct, daily services between S?o Paulo and Miami . This is our first international destination in this expansion. We started as a regional airline in Brazil.
AT: You do speak perfect Spanish. Where are you from?
FP: I was born in Portugal and lived in Colombia for many years and I now live in Brazil.
AT: What services does Avianca Brasil offer the business traveler?
FP: We have many amenities for the Business Class Section like seats that recline to a flat position and also have control panels, auxiliary lighting, support tables, USB connection, power outlets and adjustable head rests.
AT: And for the economy class?
FP: With over one hundred thousand Brazilians living in Florida visiting our country and people from Brazil coming to Miami and the Orlando area, we thought that coming to Miami was necessary to service this market and for our growth.
AT: How was the airline received at Miami International Airport?
FP: I have nothing by good words for Emilio Gonzalez, Miami-Dade Aviation Director. Avianca Brasil and our team were received very well.
