The average employee spends 90,000 hours at work…
There was recently?a viral instagram post?sharing data that we spend an average of 90,000 hours at work over our lifetime.
As I was scrolling through the comments on this post, most people were saying things like "the biggest takeaway is to spend as little time and energy on your job as possible."???
And according to Gallup, 80% of people agree - they're disengaged in their work.
As someone who is passionate about my organization's mission, this struck me as a huge problem.
Leaders, join me in reflecting on this for a minute.?
In a market where employees have more power than ever due to remote work options, they are leaving unfulfilling jobs, poor leaders, and toxic cultures faster than ever before.
Our people are looking to work in places where they are cared for and developed, energized by their mission, and confident that their 90K hours are making a difference.
Our employees are spending a majority of their living hours on mission with us.?How they feel about that mission is directly impacted by your leadership.
With employee turnover on the rise, it's time we address the issue of disengagement head on.
