Avengers in the Corporate World
Though it has been a while since the movie was released, the “Avengers: Endgame” craze is still on. We couldn’t get over the fact that Romanoff sacrificed her life, or Tony Stark is not alive. These were a few things we didn’t expect. The movie left us awestruck. It took us days to get over it.
At times like these, you sit and ponder on what you would do if you were a superhero. What role would you play during the destruction of the world? Would you be like Cap — always the leader? Or would you be like Stark — always concern about team members’ safety.
Much like Marvel’s Avengers, your team consists of individuals with differences when it comes to their superpowers or skills, back stories, and favorite tools for getting the job done. The Avengers team would be a downright disaster if it consisted of 15 Iron Mans, and your IT team wouldn’t get very far if it only consisted of 15 developers. So everyone is performing different roles to get the success over the project done.
Captain America- Project Manager:
Captain America (Steve Rogers) is one of Marvel’s most iconic heroes since the beginning of the franchise. However, Steve’s stance is always based on his belief in people, not institutions or processes.
He may be a superhuman hero, but it’s his human qualities that make him stand out. Whether he’s leading superheroes or human soldiers, Captain America is great at figuring out everyone’s individual strengths and delegating job assignments accordingly. It is also no accident that his primary weapon is a shield, which he often uses to protect his teammates and other civilians. Great Managers do the same too – always protecting the team from fallout and earn employee loyalty by showing loyalty first.
Iron Man- Sr. Developer/ Team lead:
Despite his reputation and responsibilities, Tony deserves credit for seeing the value of keeping situations light and enjoying the moment. Even in the middle of life-threatening scenarios, Tony is capable of cracking jokes to stay loose and help keep the team in check.
Nobody likes working with a leader or company that always take things too seriously. In reality, we spend a huge portion of our lives at work, so it is only logical that we find a way to keep things fun. Additionally, negative stress can cloud decision-making and restrict reactions. Empathetic leaders understand this well and know how to reduce team anxieties and introduce brief levity at appropriate times.
Black Widow: Business Analyst
Out of all the Avengers, Natasha Romanoff has perhaps the most parallels to a real-life IT hero. A tactician and hacker, Black Widow can process information streams in real-time and respond to challenges with tactical ease. You may know this hero as a business analyst.
Your team’s Black Widow isn’t hesitant to raise his or her hand when someone floats an idea. You may perceive this person as armed with “what-ifs” and “buts.” While your Black Widow’s ability to process concepts and peer into the future can feel frustrating at times, it’s a huge benefit to have someone one your team with a keen ability to sniff out potential issues.
Ant Man/Scott Lang — Agile Scrum Master
One of the more recent characters to hit the big screen, Ant Man has won our hearts with his small size and his massive strength. One of the most flexible superheroes, he can grow into any role. Quite literally, actually.
His most important characteristic? He has the ability to remove any kind of blockage. And this means his plans are always smoothly executed.
See why we think Agile Scrum Masters are the Ant Men of our world?
Like the Ant Man, Scrum masters take chances and risks, and will go to any lengths to make sure it is their team that ultimately wins. They are facilitators of their team, stay focused on their project goals, and like seeing the entire project through to the finish.
Agility is one of their best traits.
Hawkeye/Clint Barton — Digital Marketer
Whenever we meet Clint Barton, we see a no-nonsense person — someone who is there to do his job and leave. No relationships, no melodrama, no inefficiency.
There is a reason Hawkeye is called “The World’s Greatest Marksman”, and there is a reason he shares traits with marketers.
Trained by the original Swordsman and Trick shot, Hawkeye never misses a target. He takes his time to plan his attacks, and executes them with precision. Do marketers work the same way?
Of course.
Focus is one of the key skills of a digital marketer. No matter the situation in an organization, at the end of the day, a digital marketer can stand his own. They know their stuff, they know what they need to do, they will do it, and they will leave.
Digital Marketers are known for their precision and their ability to create great campaigns. One wrong marketing campaign could mean the end of their career. Success depends on their accuracy, their research, and their target. If they aim right, they are sure to get the desired results. With every campaign comes months of strategics and planning to find the right target and set up aim.
