Avanade Information Session

We had the pleasure of hosting Lucy Moodley, Luis Reyes, and Kevin Pham from Avanade on Thursday! We kicked things off with a few introductions:

·??????Lucy Moodley:?Lucy was in business HR and moved to the early talent space to manage the internship program. As well as looking for recent graduates to join Avanade. She was from a company called Infusion, bought out by Avanade. She has been with the organization for 13 years but with Avanade for five years. In those five years, the company grew by over 60,000 employees. She came to FITP to look for people like our members with outstanding talent.

·??????Luis Reyes: Luis graduated in 2018 from the University of Houston from Bauer college with a Bachelor’s in Management information systems. He attained a full-time job offer from Avanade and accepted it and is still there four and a half years later and loves what he does.

·??????Kevin Pham: Kevin graduated in 2018 and has been with Avanade for four years. He is part of the cloud engineering group, a subset of infrastructure that delivers active consulting. He has been passionately involved with the company, which led to him founding the Asian employee network group.

Who is Avanade? a brief history

·??????Microsoft and Accenture co-founded them. Microsoft owns 20%, and Accenture owns 80%. Therefore, all Microsoft platforms that they use at Avanade, like when it comes to timesheets, and if you want to obtain a Power BI certification, it is 100% free at Avanade because Microsoft owns them.?While Avanade has its own identity and business model, they’ll work closely with Accenture because they are predominantly owned by them. At Avanade, they call themselves the children of Microsoft and Accenture because they are the parent companies. Avanade was founded 22 years ago, so they just celebrated their 20th anniversary two years ago and a massive milestone of having the first female CEO as a person of color. It is phenomenal for Avanade as an organization; they are super inclusive at Avanade.

·??????The color of Avanade is orange because of the mixture of red and yellow of happiness and love.

Opportunities at Avanade

Avanade’s Hybrid Technical Internship Program for Summer 2023

·??????The preference is if you are finishing your junior year, and it is a paid internship program that starts on May 31 and ends on August 6.

·??????You must be present during the ten weeks

·??????During the internship, Avanade gives PTO (personal time off), and if you don’t use it, you get paid out at the end

·??????Working with real clients based on the region you are working in.

·??????Take this as an example. You can create a Power BI dashboard if you’re part of the analytics or data. Through your internship, Avanade will offer you free Microsoft certifications if you want to go and get certified as your 900 and fundamentals of whatever the case maybe you are open to do that.

·??????In the ten weeks, the Interns will attend a fuel conference to learn about technology and meet with leaders at Avanade. One of the most fun and valuable pieces of information shared with everyone.

Avanade’s Technical Analyst Ignition Program

·??????A six-week intensive Ignitions program. You’ll get hands-on- work experience and access to senior company leaders who will help critique and improve your work. Also, during the six weeks, there will be a two-week mock project on how it applies to business. This program is intended for graduates.
