Autumn Reflection
Cherry Professional - Relationship Led Recruitment
Empowering everyone we work with to achieve their goals and ambitions
Welcome to the October edition of the Cherry Professional Newsletter!
As October begins, it's a time for reflection and renewal—a perfect moment to focus on how businesses and professionals can reset and prepare for a strong finish to the year. In this month's newsletter, we'll dive into strategies and insights to help organisations and individuals maximise autumn opportunities, refocus their goals, and embrace the final quarter with confidence and momentum.
Last week was National Inclusion Week (23rd – 29th September) provided a valuable opportunity for companies to reflect on how they can build more inclusive workplaces. A key takeaway for many organisations is the importance of implementing inclusive hiring practices—such as using blind recruitment methods to minimise unconscious bias and ensuring that job descriptions are free from gendered language and accessible to all. Additionally, fostering an inclusive onboarding process is crucial, ensuring that new employees feel valued and supported from day one. Companies can also benefit from providing ongoing inclusivity and bias training to all staff, creating a culture of awareness and belonging at every level. By focusing on these areas, organisations can build diverse teams that drive innovation, creativity, and stronger performance.
Understanding neurodiversity at work event: A fantastic success!
Last week we hosted our "Understanding Neurodiversity in the Workplace" event which drew an overwhelming level of interest and brought together a fantastic mix of HR professionals. We had the privilege of hearing from some incredible speakers. Philip Pearson-Batt from Precept shared valuable insights, and Mark Pearce gave a powerful first-hand account of living with autism, which certainly left our audience with much to reflect on and implement in their own organisations.
It’s been truly inspiring to see how many companies are passionate about ensuring their workplaces are inclusive for everyone. The feedback from attendees spoke volumes, highlighting the eagerness to make tangible changes and embrace neurodiversity.
Although National Inclusion Week has come to an end, the work is far from over. It’s not just about creating inclusive workplaces, but also recognising that we have much more to do to foster inclusivity in the wider world. This event has only deepened our commitment to that journey, and we look forward to continuing the conversation.
We invite you to explore our blog on neurodiversity and disability discrimination, which highlights the rising number of employment tribunals related to these issues.
