An Autonomous Electric Boat in Amsterdam!
Roboat started out as a research project in 2015 by the AMS Institute in Amsterdam and MIT in Boston, with the goal to create an autonomous, electric vessel, capable of transporting people and goods. Five-years later and researchers say they're now ready to commercialize the sensor technology, which uses Lidar, cameras and an IMU. The kit aims to add a new level of intelligence to existing vessels. The new development comes as researchers remain stalled by unchanged legislation that requires a skipper to be on-board most vessels in cities. Learn more from AMS Institute's Ynse Deinema.
