AI Automation vs Augmentation

What does it make it so exciting to live in 21st century? Globalisation has been slowly diminishing the boundaries between counties, markets, people and societies.
We embark on the journey towards a truly global environment where news are transmitted fast and transparently. Where within seconds knowledge is being shared, processed and saved.
How will we as humans be able to process, rate, prioritize this amount of information with current means of communication? E-mails? Messengers? TV?
How will we differentiate between priorities, opportunities in all those global informational streams?
Trends are showing constant information overload — digital detox retreats, mindfulness practices, meditation, downshifting…people are moving away from the informational chaos and try to find a way to structure it, make it comprehensive, understandable, focus on the information that bring the most value.
Let me ask you, how many tasks in your daily life are repetitive? How many of those tasks could have been taken over by a programmed algorithm? How many tasks could have been executed faster and more efficiently without your involvement?
This idea burns in our minds at x10.ai since 2 years.
2 years ago we have started to develop AI Augmented Workplace ecosystem. We could go alone — and we would be fast. We want to go far — that is why we want you to be part of the ecosystem and share the future of AI Augmented Workplace together.
There are several questions we are currently researching.
- Major question we focus on is “What new feats might people achieve if they had better thinking machines to assist them?” — or, in other words, what does augmentation provide over automation
- How do we as humans prepare to work not only in global but also augmented workplace? Why we think about it? — One of the first theoretical findings was that as machines take over in frequent, high-volume work, employees have to migrate to roles that call for critical thinking, creativity, judgment and common sense, and that extends to the top tiers of management. It is widely accepted and anticipated that advanced digital technology will have tremendous impact and consequences for the future of work within the next decade (10 to 20 years)
- So the question we are researching in our research is “what’s the structured data component that might be better done by a machine, and what are the roles for humans?”
- By summing it all up we will hopefully have an idea on — how can the future or work look like if every employee has a personal AI assistant?
We are open to start the discussion — our meet-ups take place in eastern and western europe regularly and together with client engagements they are the basics for our research.
