First up, Automation News.

Eggplant with Sauce

?As I mentioned in last week's show, I went to the Star West conference and forgot to mention that while I was there, Jonathan Wright, the automation cyborg let me know that Keysights in SauceLabs have teamed up.?

No alt text provided for this image

Jonathan and Keysights are doing many cool things around Ai-Powered test automation. And they ?? have partnered with SauceLabs to help with mobile device testing in the cloud.?

If you're using Eggplant, you'll be happy to know that it now works with SauceLab's real device cloud. They're calling this integration the ultimate solution for scalable, high-quality testing.?

If you haven't heard of Keysights before, they acquired Eggplant a few years ago and really do many innovative things in this space.?

Hey, what's better than some eggplant with sauce on it? :)

Playwright

Also, you probably heard me say that between the big three automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, and Playwright), it seems like ?? Playwright is starting to pull ahead, and I'm seeing many different people posting about it Playwright on LinkedIn.?

And here's just one example that I wanted to share with you about how someone found it very helpful for their automation.?

So Alejandro Sanchez Giraldo just pointed out that Playwright continues to surprise him, that he was able to mock an API-based endpoint, and that he used a Regex path that can do some visual validation testing for a specific element. Even better ran across three browsers; you can see the code he used to achieve this.?

I wanted to point this out because looking at GitHub is a great way to learn to code or see how other people have code things.

Accessibility Testing Workshop

No matter what role you're in with widespread regulation and guidelines changes on the horizon, your team needs to keep their eyes on accessibility.?

So what do you do?

How do you prepare for all the coming changes you will need to be aware of? How do you make your applications more accessible? So I have a resource you should check out to help with this.?

It's a free webinar called ?? You, Me, and Accessibility: Empathy and Human-Centered Design Thinking. Erin Hess will lead this workshop, and she will teach you how to address some key questions, including:

  • The most common accessibility categories.?
  • Where to consider accessibility in your software development lifecycle? What's the intersection of software and empathy look like?
  • How does empathy empowers teams in end users and drives innovation??

Accessibility testing has been hot, hot the past few years. Suppose you aren't doing it yet. Here's a great chance to see how others are doing it and how to be successful with it.?

Also, you'll learn some accessible, fun, and approachable ways that the entire project team can contribute to accessibility testing. So definitely check out this must-attend workshop. Hope to see you there.

C# API Testing Library

Want to help out a well-known test automation leader? Here's an excellent chance, especially if you're into API, Rest-assured, and C-sharp testing. And this is by Bas Dijkstra. So Bas is looking for alpha testers for his ?? latest release of RestAssured .Net 0.1.?

This is a port over of the JaVA rest-assured library for C-sharp.?

I love Rest-Assured and interviewed the creator Johan Haleby way back in 2015.

Since then, different testers repeatedly asked me if there was a C# version.

I would say no, too bad; rest assured didn't have a C# version.?

Now, thanks to Bas, it does, and you can return the favor by helping him out.

This article points out what's supported by this release. And what's not yet supported, as well as a link to the GitHub repository where you can learn more.?

Highly recommend you check this and give your feedback.

Grokking Continuous Delivery

Do you want a resource that helps you with their continuous delivery process from an expert at Google? I discovered that the ?? book Grokking Continuous Delivery by Christie Wilson is now in print.?

I interviewed Christie Wilson about this when she was still working on the book, so I was excited to see that the print version is now available.

I recommend you listen to her podcast interview, head to Manning Publishing, and buy the book.?

Time to Vote

I've been swamped starting to ramp up planning for Automation Guild 2023. AG23 will be the seventh annual online event dedicated 100% to helping you with all things and end-to-end automation in testing, and I need your help.?

All Guild Conferences are attendee-led, and we take a democratic approach to find out what sessions you want or things that you're struggling with rather than me making assumptions.?

And the way to do that is to vote on our sessions.

Voting and speaker info is anonymous.?

We have the titles and the description that the speakers submitted. And just based on that title and description, you can vote on all the ones you are interested in.?

Based on the results, I see the highest-voted ones and then put together a program based on what you are struggling with to ensure we have the most relevant, high-quality content to help accelerate your automation in the New Year.?

?????? Vote now and let your automation voice be heard.

?Next up, security testing news.

Microsoft announced the defender cloud security posture management and defender for DevOps have ?? two new offerings within the company's defender for cloud services, previously known as Azure Defender, and the managing software development in runtime security across multi-cloud, multi-pipeline environments. It's currently available in public preview.?

This article also points out that in a 2020 report,?

59% of cybersecurity teams received more than 500 alerts about cloud security daily, and a large portion of those were false positives
