The growth of electronics paved the way for the birth of computers, which in turn started a chain reaction of developments in various industries. The common statement that was made right from the beginning of the development of computers was, ‘it will overtake humans one day’. Now, it is being feared that computers could disrupt the job market by replacing humans with new technologies. One such technology which is being feared the most because of its power and potential to do tasks with the accuracy of humans is Automation.

Automation is the process of incorporating software or algorithms to do a task with very reduced human intervention. Tasks which requires repeated actions could be replaced by automation technology. The very basic concept of this technology is to reduce human intervention and not to eliminate them.?

Every revolution in the computer industry scared the masses that it could replace them from their jobs, but what really happened was, people started to adapt with the technology and it gave rise to more jobs in the market. But you cannot trust an AI to do a task which requires emotional or irrational thinking. Automation in the customer support can be done by incorporating chatbots but the chances of getting a satisfied response is very low.?

Computers cannot innovate or create new ideas: When a work needs repetitive actions to be performed, automation will serve the purpose, but when a work requires innovative thinking and new ideas, no technology can beat a human. Businesses require constant innovation in order to stand apart from their competitors. This problem can be solved only by human intelligence.

Hybrid workforce enhances productivity: Automation in an industry can replace minor tasks with predefined outcomes which requires the same action to be performed. But Automation cannot fully replace humans, a hybrid workforce that is Automation technology aiding humans in the workplace or environment could improve productivity and also serves as the best application of this technology.?

Automation in the industrial sector will not replace humans from the workforce, rather it will help humans to complete the tasks with higher degree of precision in less amount of time. Automation could positively impact the way a work is done and it could also pave way for new opportunities. If boring and repetitive works are done by Automation then human effort can be saved and it can be used in the areas of innovation and creativity.
