Automating the toil - Part 7

Automating the toil - Part 7

Depending on how your organisation uses the tools at its disposal, you can hook up automation to let teams know when critical events are happening.

Today's automation: Watch a Teams Channel, and then post a message when activity happens.

Why?

In large organisations, MS Teams is often the source of truth in terms of open/active events. It's how efforts are coordinated, and how outcomes are communicated and recorded.

Knowing when activity is occurring in a certain place means your team(s) and colleagues can be kept updated without them needing to constantly check - or, worse, be told by others.

How?

Today's flow

  • The flow is triggered by a new message in a specific channel of a Microsoft Teams group.
  • If the message subject is empty, it stops. This step is important to avoid communicating empty message or sessions that were created by accident. This can happen! Bit embarrassing to communicate to your stakeholders that " " is happening...
  • If the message subject is not empty, it posts a message to various recipients of your choice alerting them to the session that has been started.
