Remember the last article, in which I said that getting content into other systems means it can be manipulated by other automation? This is an example of another flow that can make use of that content!

Today's automation: Get data from a SharePoint Excel file and communicate it in a Teams message.

Why?

Quite simply, lots of businesses - especially large corporates - are pretty much run on Excel. Being able to read Excel data and surface it in channels more commonly used by teams means removing a step or two from their daily toil. Little incremental changes like this add up to many hours saved.

How?


  • The flow is triggered daily at 07:30 AM.
  • It then gets the service data in the Excel file, and using an ODATA filter, excludes any rows that are empty
  • It creates an HTML table
  • And then sends it to one to whoever needs to know. Simple!
