I had a question the other day that I have a STRONG opinion on, and I think you might too.
The question was - “Who wins in the end - the one who automates and pumps out the same message to a mass amount of people hoping to nab a few sales or the one who’s deliberate and intentional about every lead?â€
My answer was this - I’ll go up against an automated “spray and pray†sales strategy ANY day. I’ll use a story to illustrate why…
There are two fishermen. One fisherman goes out and drags a big old net through the ocean. What is he picking up? Turtles, tires, and trash and whatever is out there. He’s going to pick up all kinds of stuff. And in the process, he’s damaging the environment in a sense because he’s overfishing. He’s just grabbing everything the net catches and pulling it out of the water. Not to mention it’s dragging on the bottom, he’s destroying some of the natural elements and disrupting everything just trying to get his hands on whatever he can find that MIGHT be usable.
The second fisherman is a salmon fisherman. He knows what salmon like to eat, he knows what time of day they like to eat, what temperature of the water they’re most active in, where to stand to catch them - he’ll catch salmon All. Day. Long.
He’s NOT going to destroy the environment, NOT going to disturb anything else around because he knows what he’s looking for so he’s going to prepare the meal they want, how they want when they want so he finds out what they want and he gives it to them. Who do you think is going to win?
Don’t be the first one. Don’t be the fisherman pulling up whatever he can find and have to sort through the junk, and tainting the water in the process. For one, people are frustrated because they’re getting spammed.
And it’s so elementary.
The more dialed in you are, the higher quality results you’ll get. Know who your target market is, what they like, what challenges they have and you’ll win more in the end.
