Why I Created the Hiring Expert GPT

My motivation for creating the Hiring Expert GPT came from my frustration with traditional recruitment methods. Over the years, I’ve seen how slow and inefficient the process can be. I wanted to develop a solution that saves time and ensures high standards in hiring. By integrating this GPT with the Discovered Software platform, I aimed to provide a comprehensive tool that guides users through best practices in recruitment, making hiring smoother and more effective for businesses of all sizes.

The Problems with Traditional Hiring

Traditional hiring processes come with a lot of challenges. For many companies, especially SMEs, the tasks are time-consuming, and hiring practices can be inconsistent. Manual job analysis, creating job descriptions, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and developing onboarding plans are all labor-intensive and prone to human error. Plus, ensuring diversity and inclusion in hiring practices adds another layer of complexity that many organizations struggle to manage effectively.

The Idea Behind Developing a GPT for Recruitment

The inspiration for the Hiring Expert GPT came from a desire to tackle these challenges head-on. With over 25 years of experience in recruiting, I saw the potential for AI to transform the hiring process. The idea was to create a GPT that acts like a Chief Talent Acquisition Officer, guiding users through best practices in recruitment and hiring. This GPT would not only automate repetitive tasks but also ensure consistency and quality in the materials produced, helping companies streamline their recruitment efforts.

Research and Planning

The initial research and planning phase involved understanding the key pain points in the hiring process and identifying how a GPT could address them. I started by defining the goals and scope of the project, focusing on creating a tool that could handle various aspects of recruitment like job analysis, job description creation, resume screening, interview process automation, and onboarding plans.

Next, I planned the integration with the Discovered Software platform to ensure seamless operation. The development process was iterative, involving continuous testing and refining to ensure the GPT could deliver high-quality, performance-based hiring content. The goal was to create a tool that could be easily used by businesses of all sizes, providing them with the resources needed to execute efficient and effective hiring campaigns.


Building it Inside the Discovered Performance Hiring Software

We aim to deliver a user-friendly interface within the Discovered Performance Hiring Software. This platform will let users create, use, and distribute hiring materials. It will automate processes and streamline communication with candidates and hiring managers. Users can share links with candidates for various tasks, and the Discovered software will grade, record, and automate these tasks, thanks to AI integration.

Key Features and Functionalities

To meet our goals, we planned several key features:

  • Customized Job Analysis: Users can answer a series of questions to create a comprehensive job description or provide existing job details.
  • Video Job Descriptions: Create engaging video job descriptions through one-way video interviews.
  • Performance-Based Job Descriptions: Generate precise job descriptions based on user input, available for review and modification in Word or Excel format.
  • Candidate Scorecards & Interview Guides: Develop detailed scorecards and tailored interview questions, provided in Word or Excel format.
  • Video Screening Tools: Create one-way video screenings with questions aligned to scorecards.
  • Custom Job Assessments: Develop multiple-choice assessments to evaluate candidates' skills, provided in Word or Excel format.
  • Job Advertisement & Recruitment Marketing: Craft compelling job ads and create recruitment marketing videos and social media content.
  • Social Media & Email Campaigns: Generate social media posts with images and create email/text campaigns for employee referrals and job promotions.
  • Career Page Content: Develop content for the company’s career page.
  • Training & Onboarding Plans: Create detailed onboarding checklists and training plans with SMART goals for new hires.

Automating the Hiring Process

We started with designing a structured question flow for job analysis, creating a set of questions to learn more about the specific job users were hiring for. The GPT would then use the answers to generate a performance-based job description, ensuring that the job descriptions were precise and tailored to the role’s requirements.

Next, we focused on automating the resume screening and interview process. The GPT created detailed candidate scorecards to assess key qualities and developed tailored interview questions to evaluate candidates effectively. It also generated video screening tools and custom job assessments, providing users with a comprehensive toolkit for candidate evaluation.

Ensuring Diversity and Inclusion

Diversity and inclusion were integral to the development process. We designed the GPT to help users create hiring materials that promote diversity and ensure fair evaluation. This included developing behavioral interview questions and structured assessments that minimize bias and focus on performance and potential.

This is certainly a pretty cool tool in a recruiter's toolbelt even in it's current standalone state. But getting it into Discovered will probably revolutionize the entire product.
