Automatic detection of stones (part II)
Now you may wonder why I bother about the diamonds in the previous section, so far away from forestry and agriculture.
The software protocol for full automatic findings (of the stones or any objects of interest) is the core business here.
Although the lay person may think that finding stones is top priority, the intriguing part is the surface distribution of all stones. Because super precise mapping, in situ, is required to predict the shape of the total distribution.
In this image right, the standard deviation of the previous laser intensity picture. For a good standard deviation you need the correct grouping into objects of your pixels.
But there are better textural measures for such objects, such as difference to neighbors.
