Although there are many Job portals out there, LinkedIn, however, is the current best source of finding jobs in my experience. Their Premium service brings down the job hunting menace even further. But what if you are not ready to shell out that amount of cash? How would you still best use this amazing platform? To debug this, Let’s look at the Automated tools & tips to find jobs without LinkedIn Premium

Why not LinkedIn Premium?

Let me be frank and tell you that over the period of time I have been on LinkedIn, I have used the paid services only in the start. I opted out of it because I found that the money spent on some other tools, gave me better results.

I was using some 3 – 4 tools. Out of them, I used just one paid tool and all others were free. This process gave me twice (or in some cases even thrice) the result that I was getting through LinkedIn Premium. If you love LinkedIn Premium then please don’t change your stance because of me. In my experience, however, I was able to get greater results without it.

I would also like to showcase the opinion of Power Formula, where their survey states the following numbers:

“The results from my latest LinkedIn user survey show that only 18% of us are paying for our LinkedIn experience.”

“This number has been consistently rising since I began my survey five years ago, but the majority of users are still taking advantage of the world’s largest database of business professionals for free.”

Take a look at their detailed survey at Power Formula’s Survey – Portrait of a LinkedIn user.

Finding jobs using Google Shortcuts

Although this post majorly focuses on using LinkedIn as your base for job search, we wouldn’t want you to miss an opportunity just because of the scope of this post. So right in the start, I am including a couple universal job search tricks that can be used for LinkedIn as well as other Job platforms.

Shortcut for Finding unadvertised jobs

The first step to finding a job is to pick a company. And for those who want to find it fast, a good fit would be the companies which are expanding and looking for the positions of your interest. Google News & Search can be used to look for such companies....

Start with Typing in the following query in the search area:

“Hiring up to * employees” << finds news having the following keywords

And instead of employees, you can also write down the niche or related term/keyword you are targeting. (*) Asterisk stands for a fill in the blank in Google search. And can be used to fill up anything.

Another nifty tip if you wanted a job that could be called either “Academic writer” or Copy writer”, you can type this query into Google...
