Is autoimmune disease one thing?

Let's join forces! ??
.
As someone who has suffered from multiple autoimmune conditions and has family members with many different autoimmune conditions, I believe that autoimmune diseases are connected. Not viewing them in this way means that research and progress in this area are stalling.
.
Luckily, a new scientific initiative called Connect Immune Research, backed by@britsocimm , agrees, and they have created an initiative that brings together researchers from across autoimmune conditions to uncover the common threads in their work. I am looking forward to seeing what they find and how it can help those with autoimmune diseases.
.
This approach will bring some great insights and hope for new therapies and protocols, and it also means that the cost of the research will be less for the benefit of more people. ??

“We want autoimmunity to be recognised as a distinct area of research science, alongside the likes of cancer, infectious disease, and dementia. By autoimmune charities working together in this way, we hope to speed up and strengthen research so we can find a way of preventing these conditions.”
.
I am so pleased that alopecia, arthritis, MS, and diabetes charities are joining forces and finding ways to support the autoimmune community as a strong unity together. This is a significant first step into a new perspective into these complex and unpredictable conditions.
.
Are you as excited as I am? ????
