■ The Autohaus Mark?tter is opening a shop for electric cars in Gütersloh.

■ This approach is innovative, and we are excited to see how it performs in the market. The Mark?tter car dealership balances innovation with practicality.?

The Mark?tter team has also demonstrated creativity by introducing a four-day workweek, which we previously reported on.?

Now, let’s take a moment to look back at the company's roots, which serve as the foundation for these creative strategies.

■ The company will celebrate its 100th anniversary in three years!

The company’s founder, Fritz Mark?tter, would likely have been delighted to know that the bicycle and motorcycle dealership he registered in Gütersloh in 1927 would evolve into one of the largest car dealerships in the region. Under the leadership of Wilfried Mark?tter, Fritz's son, the company continued to grow and is now operated by his children, Ralf and Susan Mark?tter, in the third generation.

■ Let’s look back at the beginning: In 1927, Fritz Mark?tter registered a business in Wiedenbrück, establishing a bicycle and motorcycle dealership with a repair shop at Eickhoffstrasse 20 in Gütersloh. He secured factory representation for well-known motorcycle brands NSU and Zündapp. 1948, before the currency reform, the successful workshop was expanded for the first time. A decade later, Mark?tter Automobile sold its first car, the “Prinz.” ■ In 1960, as NSU took over the distribution of Simca automobiles (which later became Peugeot) in Germany, the Mark?tter company also began selling the Simca brand.?

A significant milestone was reached in 1964 when sales surpassed the one million mark for the first time—still in D-Marks. That year, the dealership opened a 750 square meter facility, including an Aral gas station, at Dammstrasse 41. In 1967, Auto Mark?tter KG added Volvo as a second brand, marking the start of a beautiful partnership now celebrating its 50th anniversary.?

■ In 1980, Peugeot Chrysler acquired its French division, Simca, which made Mark?tter an official Peugeot dealer. This partnership proved successful. By 1995, Mark?tter rented the former Saab Germany facility near the headquarters at Dammstrasse 60 in Gütersloh for the Peugeot division. While the collaboration with Peugeot has lasted over 50 years, a third prominent brand, Land Rover, was introduced in 2002, operating not only in Bielefeld but also in Gütersloh, Herford, Paderborn, and Detmold.?

■ In 2008, the dealership relocated to its current site at Auf's Kampe 1-11, The company continues to evolve, driven by tradition, excellent offers, service, expertise, and a genuine passion for cars. This commitment has made the Mark?tter car dealership one of the leading dealerships in the region.
