Someone asked me, "Do you Product folks treat your product like a baby?"
Got me thinking - We can feel a lot of things. If it was a baby, I would be curious about how the baby feels
Hence, I bring to you all - An autobiography of a product
Hi!
I am a Product and this is my Life
IDEA ? PROTOTYPE ? PILOT ? GROWTH ? FUTURE
An Idea:?I am a thought
When there was a demand, a need, a desire, I was brought into existence. A group of people thought of creating me and crafting me to the needs of the customers they had.
I started as a thought. A thought which was believed to be?desirable?by the customers.
I was blighted yet bewildered that day. I felt joy that I would exist. Although I was very inquisitive about the shape and form. The stories users will tell about me. Will they like me/ hate me/ignore me? I had so many questions...
A Prototype:?I have a form
When they brainstormed, researched, ideated and conceptualized the solutions, I was on paper. My team of creators was an empathetic one. They visioned every user story I'd be associated with. They tried to make me the best and the most desirable. They even ensured to complete my security needs. This journey was very exciting. I finally knew the shape and form. My questions were getting answered. They made an idea clear, concise and?feasible?enough to be implemented
In a couple of weeks, I woke up with a form and shape. I could interact but I knew right away this is not the final form. I was still a prototype. I had limited data and not all my senses were activated. The team was diligent enough to take detailed reviews and customer reactions towards me. I had a mixed response. I counted my blessings and wanted to improve.

The team then started a fast iterative process to upgrade me to satisfy the customers to a viable level. With time and undying team efforts, I got the tag of MVP. My creators even became my users to?empathize?with the market/users I am going to service
The Pilot?-?I exist & I'm alive
Then one day I found myself ready and was launched as a Pilot. I existed now. I couldn't be happier. I got my very first user (apart from my creators) and I was prompt to service. I kicked off the first few days with a meteoric rise in users and they left me some kind words of appreciation. The words which I treasured the most. I was doing well but success is a journey; not a destination. I knew it, my creators knew it and we were ready.
With time, the needs expanded and I wasn't doing so well with few customers. The team was quick enough to keep upgrading my features, speed and interface. I ensured that I am always there when my users need me.
The Growth:?I upgraded & expanded
My creators kept enhancing my abilities and helped me redefine the user experience. They monitored the experience, demand, usage and health to ensure I am afloat to perform my duties. The team crunched data and customer verbatim to draw insights on 3 core verticals: Desirability (among users), Viability(for business), and Scalability (for growth opportunities). They kept looking for avenues of improvement and kept failing faster.
While they failed faster, the number of iterations got reduced each time. As I evolved, they evolved as well.
We ensured that I keep expanding into markets/geographies and keep growing my users spreading smiles on their faces and at times getting tagged in places. I am even proactive now and I help my users before their needs arise. I am a friend in need.
The journey was similar at times. With time, the iterations were fewer and the successes were frequent. My team was able to?sense?the users well and their?responses?were fast and accurate. I am as good as my product team; my creator.
The Future: I am Bulletproof!
Now, I have a presence not only in their mind but in their hearts as well. While the market is saturated, the journey hasn't ended yet.
I am a living artefact.?There's a reason I am called a Product. I am thoughts multiplied effort.
There may come a time when I might have to be decommissioned yet I am an optimist (like my creators).
I believe?ideas are bulletproof. So I will have a chance to metamorph; change my shape, form and size and keep being a friend in need to my users.
I will evolve. I will live forever!?
(at least in memories ??)!
