Technology has been shown to increase verbal skills, given some a voice, advance STEAM abilities, improve social skills and through digital tools promote confidence. Innovation in technology has benefited tremendously thanks to autistic individuals like Temple Grandin (Animal Scientist) and Satoshi Tajiri (Creator of Nintendo’s Pokémon) today.
Two forms of assistive tech for students on the autism spectrum include teaching technologies and communication technologies. As teachers become more comfortable with technology and technology integrates with the individual, we will start to see a shift in our perceptions of autism.
