Authenticity: what happens to a leader who mislead?

There will always be leaders to create a picture of the perfect future, who tell people what they want to hear in the way that they want to hear it even though it is completely detached from reality. They are usually driven by popularity, fear of what others will say about them, self-enrichment, and instant gratification at the expense of the greater good. Their words usually end up costing them their leadership positions.

Authentic leaders will speak the truth, regardless of what the message is and how difficult it is for them. These leaders know that being authentic is one of the most important aspects of a successful culture. They consistently review their own motives and values and ensure that it is aligned with the truth. Their actions are all aligned to the bigger picture, and to the growth of the environment in which they lead.
