Authentic Leadership

Something Silly:

What do you call a fake noodle?

Answer: An Impasta

Something Serious:

Fake leaders aren’t sustainable.

According to a Global Tolerance Report:

  • 62% of millennials want to work for a company?that makes a positive impact.?
  • 53% said they would work harder if they knew they?were making a difference to others.

Cultural?change has transformed the role of Leadership.?Achieving results through commandment alone is no longer key to the Leadership role. Today's leaders don't?command,?they inspire, encouraging?everyone to adopt a mindset, that results in a commitment to being accountable, and responsible. Authentic support and appreciation encourage people to value themselves and their contribution to the workplace.

Today’s Leadership Skills have expanded to include:

  • Integrity
  • Ability to delegate
  • Communication
  • Self-awareness
  • Gratitude
  • Learning agility
  • Influence
  • Empathy
  • Courage
  • Respect

Executive coaching supports the development of the leadership skills demanded today. My question to you is: Do you have the skills to be valued as a leader??

Let’s discuss.?Share your comments below.

Reading the list of highly desirables it strikes me how important self care is. You cannot develop a host of those skills and be vulnerable and authentic without s BIG investment in looking after your self. It’s the self care that is holistic and inclusive of physical, mental, soul and spirit. It’s so hard to put yourself first. Great post Joshua Miller - thank you.

Today's world is very different in the sense that people world over are becoming empathetic towards others. They're ready to go the extra mile to make a difference to their country, it's citizens irrespective of their race, creed, religion or origin. The issue has to be genuine. Corporates can no longer get away with any agenda Joshua Miller . Especially if it hurts the larger interests. Also as the population expands alongside education, there is a steady increase in the number of ambitious people. Future will belong to social enterprises/entrepreneur. Transparency will have to increase. Collaborators will dominate. Hence the more a leader is able to empathize, the faster he will grow.

Great post Joshua Miller. While I agree with all of the qualities you listed. I have found that in my own experience, being in a leadership role gave me the experience to develop many of those qualities. Of course we need a certain degree of improvement in all of them, it just means that we can start being a leader whenever. But it will take time to become a better one.
