Authentic leadership has gained prominence in recent years as a valuable approach to effective leadership. Unlike traditional leadership styles, authentic leadership emphasizes the importance of genuineness, transparency, and staying true to oneself. This is a simple idea, but its impact is paramount to one of our primary goals of building a great culture—Trust.? The more authentic we can be, the more trust we will build.? As discussed in previous writings trust is the foundation of great leadership, great teamwork, and great culture.???
?Authentic leadership is rooted in the idea where leaders align their actions and behaviors with their core values and beliefs. By being true to oneself, leaders can build credibility and establish a foundation of trust with their followers. An authentic leader operates with transparency, openly sharing information and communicating honestly with their team. This fosters an environment of mutual respect which encourages open dialogue, collaboration, and innovation.?
?Authentic leaders inspire and motivate others through their genuine passion and enthusiasm. When leaders are authentic, their sincerity and commitment become contagious, energizing their team and fostering a shared sense of purpose. When we are driven by purpose, something outside of and bigger than ourselves, it encourages personal growth, empowers individuals to be themselves and thereby becoming the best version of themselves.?

1 年Working in higher education and with non-profits for nearly 30 years, I have had many leaders whom I have considered not authentic, and they have shown me what you should and should not do with my leadership practices. I have also realized over the years that changing who I am to please those leaders does not work, and it was a toxic work environment, so I must be true to who I am as a person and a leader. I agree with you that the more authentic you can be as a leader, you will build more trust in your organization. When you do not have this trust, you have created an organizational culture built upon an unstable foundation. With a stable foundation built upon trust, you have created an organizational culture where authentic leadership can develop and exist.
