Be AUTHENTIC – it’s got more TRACTION!

So you are in business and you have something you think is going to do well. The key question is, how can you be better than your competitors?
So….here is the answer. Be completely authentic. Why? Because it will dig deeper into your customers’ memory than if it is just fluff.
So what actually does ‘being authentic’ actually mean?
Authentic actually means real. But what does that mean in terms of business?
I would say it comes down to the owner of the business. Is the owner of the business a ‘real’ person, are they real with themselves and those around them? If the owner and operator is real, the chances are that the product or service will also be real, why? Because the owner just wouldn’t be able to stand a product out there that doesn’t represent who they are.
So how do you know who you ‘real’ you is?
I would say to ask yourself these questions and answer honestly:
- What makes you laugh?
- Who are your closest friends?
- Can you rank your friends on how real they are and how you are like them?
- When your day is empty, what do you prefer to do?
- When you meet someone and like them, what is it that you like?
The answers to these questions are going to tell you who you are. Write down the answers and you will get a quick breakdown of the qualities that make you you.
Once you know who the ‘real’ you is, capitalise on this and evaluate how much of this is in your own business. If there isn’t enough, put more into it. The reason is because ‘authenticity’ is what people connect with when they see you, and so ‘authenticity’ is the very thing that will build traction for your business and catapult you way beyond your competitors.
