Australia’s High Speed Rail Authority (HSRA) is making big moves! They've awarded eight consultancy contracts to help develop the business case for the much-anticipated high-speed line between Sydney and Newcastle.
Here's the breakdown of the eight work packages awarded:
The business case is on track to be presented to the federal government by the end of the year. With $52 million allocated for this development out of a total of $330 million for Australia's high-speed network planning, things are heating up!
The planned Sydney - Newcastle high-speed line will feature speeds over 250km/h and will run on a dedicated route between the two cities. Future expansions to Brisbane and Melbourne are also in the cards.
This is a significant step for Australia's busiest inter-city rail corridor, used by 14.9 million passengers each year. Stay tuned for more updates!
