Australian Veterans and Electroshock
Dear Eamonn
Thankyou for your email.? I am not able to open the link at work, but do know about Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).? This kind of treatment is in the domain of psychiatrists, in hospital settings, rather than psychologists.? It is a medical treatment used in patients with severe major depression or bipolar disorder that has not responded to other treatments. The early days of this treatment were rather disturbing.? We have come a long way with ECT treatment administration.? It is delivered in a much more precise and targeted way than the early days of this kind of treatment.
There is growing research into alternative treatments for managing chronic conditions that have not responded well to current treatments.? There are treatments such as Transcranial magnetic stimulation, or TMS, is a non-invasive form of brain stimulation. TMS, which is seen as an alternative for treatment of resistant depression, may provide a better pathway for some.? I have added some links that may be helpful.?
In the end, there is no easy answer, but there are a lot of people trying to find alternatives. That hopefully offers some reassurance.
Kind regards,
Loretta

Dear Ms Poerio
What you have written regarding electroshock (ECT) conflicts majorly with what psychiatrists, neurosurgeons, psychologists, and knowledgeable individuals are saying in the film.
Maybe you could watch it after work, so that rather than being in the dark and spreading falsehoods to others, you personally become informed about such an important issue.
Thanks
