Australia Post Breaks Holiday Delivery Records

Australia Post has revealed its 2024 holiday data, setting a new record for November and December deliveries. According to its latest quarterly Inside Australian Online Shopping Report, over the nine weeks, the company delivered 103 million parcels, up 3.1 percent on 2023.
This equates to 2,800 parcels delivered to Australian households every minute in November and December.
"Retailers have a tremendous opportunity to learn from and capitalise on the growing appetite for online shopping, especially during key sales events."
Wesfarmers to Close Down Catch by Mid-Year
Wesfarmers has announced that online marketplace Catch will be winding down and ultimately cease to operate as a standalone entity after nearly 20 years.
As part of the transition, Catch’s ecommerce fulfilment centres will be transferred to the Kmart Group, while certain digital capabilities developed by Catch will be absorbed into Wesfarmers’ other retail divisions.
TikTok Finds Unlikely Saviour Amid US Ban
Companies and influencers alike were thrown into a frenzy when the US government followed through with plans long in the works, and enacted their TikTok ban on Sunday, January 19th, throwing the fate of thousands of small businesses, influencer careers, and brand partnerships fostered on the social media app into the unknown.
This chaos was short lived, with international users of the platform mourning the loss of their American counterparts for mere hours before TikTok found an unlikely ally.
