STRONG WIFI, STRONG COFFEE
Coworking wasn’t even a thing a few years ago. But with more and more workplaces moving away from traditional office hours and structures, there has been a demand for something between the home office and the coffee shop.
My theory on co-working is that it is all about three things: strong wifi, strong coffee, and a great community. After I joined my first coworking space and found a group of misfit toys that felt like family, I wrote an article calling these spaces “The New Urban Tribes.”
“It’s people cooking lunch together and spontaneously collaborating on work and passion projects. It’s developer jobs written on the whiteboards, a kickball team and a kitchen with five different ways to make coffee. It’s hacking classes in the evening and yoga in the mornings.”
Since then Austin has seen a surge of co-working spaces, each targeting a slightly different kind of remote worker.
