Aussie Aussie Aussie...oe oe oe

Aussie Aussie Aussie...oe oe oe is the slogan they use to encourage national players and has the same meaning of “Pakistan Zindabaad”. Like any common person if someone returns from abroad then curiosity of people increases to know about foreign culture, education etc. and I was no exception. Interestingly I still get emails, calls and meetings with people yearning for some tips, so here I will like to put it in following points:

  1. You can NOT pay 100% of your tuition fees while working in Australia. You have to ask for money from parents. Kindly STOP living in fool’s paradise and deceiving your parents. If possible then try for AusAid and HEC scholarships.
  2. Always check with Australian embassy before taking the services of a consultant. Recognized consultant names are mentioned in university broacher and immigration website. I took the services of AEO.
  3. Like USA & UK, Australia do have so called Ivy league of Universities called as Group 8. However keep in mind that all universities are strongly monitored by Government and you won’t get a bad surprise of 2 Room University as in UK.
  4. Every degree has a governing body at national level e.g. AHRI for HR degrees, CPA for Accounting etc. Moreover inspectors from these governing bodies do visit university and interact with students about course feedback. Be active in giving feedbacks.
  5. Working visa will be given once you land in Australia. A student is allowed to work for 20 hours a week. So don’t cross that limit as the immigration department will bang you.
  6. Unlike UK, you can NOT miss a semester in Australia. Which means that you have to study Full Time.
  7. Never wear neck tie in university. Aussies prefer casual attire.
  8. Nothing is Free in Australia. Fast Food and Used cars are cheap while Pakistani foods, clothes, fruits and vegetables are extremely expensive. You will find plenty of Shaan & National masala, so no need to take it from here.
  9. Stop using Pakistani style of studying and cheating. If you are caught in Plagiarism case then immigration department will simply deport you. During my studies, 3 Chinese students were deported due to plagiarism.
  10. If a girl shakes hand, hugs or kisses on your cheek; it means HELLO as it is there culture. Don’t think that she is in love with you or ready for sex.
  11. Kindly don’t spread Hatred in the name of Islam as many Lebanese or Arabs do over there. Make many friends and be polite.
  12. Winter seasons start in June while summer season starts in November. My choice of tourist places are Bondi beach, Jarveez bay, Blue Mountain, war memorial and Sydney Harbor Bridge.
  13. At the end of education, majority will have two option a) Earn a lot of money while driving taxi in Australia or b) return to Pakistan, utilize your degree and get dignified job with less money. I chose option B and you?

I will strongly recommend you to research thoroughly by visiting following websites:

go8.edu.au - Group of Eight Universities

www.aeo.com.pk - AEO Consultants
