Geography Lens
New job postings saw a decrease across most geographies apart from North America (+1%), with Latin America having the biggest drop (-47%) and APAC with a 33% decline. Europe, Middle East and Africa had a nearly flat trend, slightly declining in April compared to March. Trends in these regions indicate a continuation of the slowdown that we noted in March 2024.
Most U.S. states saw an increase in new job postings in April, with Delaware having the highest increase of 27%, while Vermont had the biggest decrease of 36% from March. Biggest US states in terms of job postings were California, Texas and Florida, with all three seeing growth in April postings vs March.
Industry Lens
From an Industry perspective, new job postings continue the declining trend that started in March. Most of the Top 10 industries saw negative growth compared to previous month, with IT & Services (-19%) and Internet (-10%) leading. It is showing that Industries with the biggest decrease were from the Technology Sector. Only two Industries have showed positive dynamics: Retail (+11%) and Construction (+1%).
Staffing & Recruiting remains in the no. 1 position in terms of total job postings, however seeing a 7% decline compared to last month. The Top 10 industries by new job postings remains largely the same as March, as shared in our previous hiring trends report.
Filling of job postings is somewhat among the Top 10 Industries, with 91-92% of positions open being the average; Hospital & Healthcare (89% open) outperforms others with 11% of its job posts filled, while Human Resources (95% open) only filled 5% of the job postings.
Deep-dive: Remote Jobs

Total number of new remote job postings is in line with the overall job postings, declining by 3.3% from March to April 2024, with the proportion of remote jobs (out of total job postings), however, decreasing slightly from 6.5% in March to 6.7% in April.
The Industry view shows a uniform trend, with all of the Top 5 seeing a negative growth in remote job postings, compared to previous month: IT & Services (-16%) and Hospital & Healthcare (-14%) were hit the hardest; Staffing & Recruiting declined by 4%, similar to remote jobs overall; Computer Software and Hospitality were nearly flat (~0%). First three Industries by size close a significant share of their remote job posts, ranging between 13-15%; bottom two Industries follow with 8% of their job posts closed.
In terms of dynamics of remote job posts, Law Enforcement had the highest increase in at 131% compared to previous month, followed by Retail at 70%; other Industries in the Top 5 increased by 30-50%. Outsourcing / Offshoring saw the highest decline of 39% in April compared to March, closely followed by Investment Management (-32%); other Industries in the Top 5 saw a less steep decline, varying between 17% and 21%.
