AukWords 2021: Motivated Discipline

AukWords 2021: Motivated Discipline

In AukWords December 2020... I noted...

  • The "not right" feeling has been about sensing that it was somewhat disjointed, not wholly aligned. It felt a tad "icky" and caused me some subtle but present consternation. My Soul sat not right. Y'know?
  • Over the past day or so, I have rethought AukWords to be a true comic strip as part of a new and soon-to-be-released blog series for 2021... one that feels so much more aligned for me personally.

I also wrote on and noted "Determine your Code. Then align with it." Since then and over the first few weeks of 2021, I have written on:

... and...

Character and Unity are driving forces for me and have been so for the longest time... and will continue to be. Still, after all of this reflection of late, I am reminded that back in 1987 I wrote to Charles Schultz, Berkeley Breathed and Lynn Johnston for guidance on cartooning... and got responses from all three!!! I am reminded that I have had my drawing table for as many years, and an original course in same since that time... only to "dabble". "Getting around to" on this point has been a 33 year journey. Can you relate?

Here is something I have loved since childhood and I intend, finally this year, to bring it to fruition. That demands Character and Unity... Character to bring the Discipline and Unity to understand the alignment.

Essentially, Discipline and motivation. We need both the sense of internal Unity that manifests alignment to get to our most sincere motivation ... and we need the Discipline to keep us committed.

The genuine article of AukWords launches this year; finally. It is under development, and it will be released here in the coming months. But, for us all, I ask:

  • What longstanding joy of purpose do you have patiently awaiting you? What is that thing that you are being called back to now in life? Be courageously honest on this.
  • How can you see its alignment and Unity with your life, seeing and connecting to your WHY? How can you better understand how that joy of purpose can add to where you see yourself going?
  • How can you practice your own Discipline to connect with it again?

For me, cartooning is calling me back. I see it aligning with my teaching and service around character leadership and unity building. I see it as both vehicle and platform (not unlike speaking, singing and dancing for me) but one that wraps itself around me when I get at it. It feels like "home". As to Discipline, it will be about carving out my dedicated and devoted cartoon zone monthly, no excuses. I get away, and get "home".

How about you? Where is "home" and how can you get there? Do that.

Barry Lewis Green, aka The Unity Guy with Epic Engage

Lead, inspire, educate, and unite. Move forward together, stronger. My work is about bringing campuses, companies and communities together, moving forward stronger. I work with educators, entrepreneurs and emerging leaders to do just that. My work is about character leadership and education and its role in helping individuals and organizations build a better world at school, work, business and community. I deliver on it through speaking, coaching and development in character leadership and education. My expertise is character leadership and education. I advance unity in diversity by moving the needle on leadership and education that is high character and results forging. I speak, teach, coach, facilitate, lead, write, sing, dance, cartoon and create on that. In 1980, Professor Rolf Hattenauer changed my life. A highly respected expert in Human Resource Management, he expected much of us and he believed much in us. He was an educator and leader of high character. He was extraordinary. To this day and beyond, I try my darnedest to honor his spirit with my own work. That is another story. But I hope I did him service here.
