Shopify Enters its Next Era of Growth:
Now, let's talk about Shopify!?
Shopify’s summer editions of updates and forthcoming releases revealed some exciting themes and developments.?
We’ll begin with the world of B2B, which is a big focus for Shopify - and for us - right now.?
We have built multiple B2B Shopify sites over the last 18 months or so and while we’ve been able to meet client’s needs, it’s not always been straightforward - hopefully, that’s going to change thanks to a bunch of new features.
One of the most common requirements for a B2B brand is the ability to provide price breaks, to encourage higher product-quantity orders and reward those who buy in bulk. You can now also limit the amount of products a customer can buy.

These new quantity rules also allow you to sell only in increments or set a minimum order - it’s in your hands. Right now, this is a Shopify Plus-only feature, and is available to only a small number of stores - so we’ll be keeping an eye out for a broader rollout.
On a similar theme, and again only for Plus customers, a quick order list section is now available to make it easy to buy different products at quantity from one screen. If you use a free theme, version 11.0.0 or later, then you can add the quick order list section to your products template.
Another new feature for Plus brands is the ability to adapt your store for different customers - therefore providing one experience for your B2C audience, and a different one for B2B. Utilising what Shopify is calling a ‘context’, you can edit sections and blocks to display your different options.
Another Plus exclusive which is available only to a small number of stores right now, is the ability to create a form - using Shopify Forms - to invite customers to register as a regular B2B buyer.?
Each time the form is submitted, a customer and company record is created in your admin to review. They’ll be given access to B2B pricing and ordering once you approve.
A couple of other important B2B-specific updates: PayPal payments are now being accepted, and you can capture PO numbers on orders and at checkout. We know the latter has often been a point of frustration so it’s great to see this addition.

Our next upcoming industry event is in September - Engage with eCommerce. Join us and eCommerce professionals for a night of conversations about sustainability, and how we can pave the way to an eco-commerce future.?
